"We are Born in the Womb of the Earth to Live in the Lap of Ancestrality": Food Practices of Traditional Communities as a Way to Combat Food Insecurity

Based on lived experience and observation of food practices in candomblé, "terreiro" located in Cachoeiras de Macacu, a municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as well as on the analysis of food practices and health maintenance within traditional communities of Africa matrices and the reading and analysis of the works of José Flávio Pessoa de Barros (in memoriam) - babalorixá, teacher, anthropologist, and writer - it was possible to recover knowledge and practices that can contribute to nutritional literacy and to the strengthening of food security for the Brazilian population.
