Title: "Energy Transition and Dependence on Fossil Fuels: Brazil's Contradictions at the Foz do Amazonas"
Author: Lara Victória Araújo Lima e Thaís Roberta da Costa Carvalho

Abstract: This article analyzes the contradictions of Brazil's energy transition through the lens of the expansion of oil exploration in the Amazon River estuary. Although the country has a largely clean energy mix and a robust legal and environmental framework, practices centered on fossil fuels persist, creating tension with international climate agreements. Based on the Theory of Complex Interdependence, it is evident that multiple actors and interests influence state decisions. It is concluded that the energy transition in Brazil is hybrid and contradictory in nature, combining regulatory advances with the continuation of extractivist models
